Shred Presidents Day presented by the Cocoa Beach Optimist Club is a wrap!

More pics coming soon!

On February 17th 2014, the CB Skate Park hosted the annual “Shred Presidents Day” Contest presented by the Cocoa Beach Optimist Club.  27 kids competed in a standard street contest with 2 one minute runs. Prizes were provided by IVI, Nixon, Surfinista, SSlater Surf Tackle, Kelsey’s Pizza, and the Cocoa Beach Optimist Club.

“Penlight Productions” (our grassroots production crew) plugged in the music at 12 noon and the fun began. We could not have asked for a better day for a skate event of any type. There was no wind and not a cloud for miles and the skateboarding was everything from beginner shredder to top notch insane. Sunseed Co-Op provided a nice spread of healthy snacks for lunch. Oranges, apples, peanut butter and almond butter sandwiches and some drinks. The Optimist Club members were making sandwiches for the kids and spectators.  We gave away Nixon watches worth $200 each and some sunglasses from IVI Eyewear that are priced at $125 each along with decks and other gear provided by the Optimist Club. Thanks to everyone that showed up to skate and to the spectators, see you next year!

prez 2014aaa

On Monday, January 20th, we held a free skate day, shop sale and a best trick jam. The park was packed most of the day and winded down with a best trick jam on the tech-deck rail and the main handrail.

Tech-Deck session: Richard Hatten boardslid up the rail. Chris Hatten was killing it also. Grace Marhoefer landed a boardslide and a 180 boneless down the 3 set. Max Potter threw down a bigspin f/s boardslide to fakie. Max Pacensa landed a beanplant to bluntslide to fakie. Reese Clayson stuck a bigflip down the 3 stairs and a kickflip backside tailslide on the rail. Elijah Allred made a f/s feeble grind and some other tricks. Jake Turner landed an ollie down the 3 set.

When we moved to the big handrail the session got a little bit smaller. Killian Horne krooked the handrail. Elijah feebled the rail and boardslid it to fakie. Max Potter landed a f/s lipslide.

Reese Clayson stuck a kickflip b/s tail to fakie and a 360 flip down the bank. He also had a stylish f/s boardslide.

Christmas Party Dec 23rd 2013

The Skate Park Christmas Party was such a fun time. We hung out at Bruno's Pizza in Cocoa Beach and gave away lots of goodies to the kids and parents. The people at Bruno's really made us feel at home. Big shout out to Mike, Andy and the crew.

The prize table was stocked! Raffle tickets were given to everyone and at 8:45 we pulled the first ticket. When a number was pulled, the holder of the ticket could pick any item on the table. We went down the list and everyone got some great goodies. There were hats, decks, bearings, shirts, gift-bags, key chains, sunglasses, a watch, and multiple hidden "Gift Cards" inside playing cards. Each kid w took a deck of cards. 3 of the decks had custom joker "No Joke" gift cards inside good for CB skate park.
